The main goal of the project is to provide end users of digital libraries with the simplest access to multilingual catalogues: a single query should return items for multiple selected languages. Such a goal is attainable only with a successful achievement of the following subgoals:

1. The access engine must be aware of the particular structure of digital libraries and in particular of digital catalogues;
2. The multilingual resources must be dynamically and easily updatable in order to handle both the terminological richness of a medium-size library and the frequency of catalogue updates;
3. The infrastructure must be compatible with all major library standards;
4. User access and presentation of results must be attentively studied;
5. The infrastructure must prove to be easily adopted for the aggregation of big quantity of data.

These five points, which also constitute the technological work packages of the project, will be described in the WP sections.
